SUN Hydraulics is a recognized global leader in the design and manufacture of high performance screw-in hydraulic cartridge valves and manifolds. Their products provide control for hydraulic systems that are used in many types of industrial mobile equipment and machinery.

Sun's screw-in cartridges and their respective valve bodies offer a wide variety of hydraulic control functions in a lightweight space saving envelope which offer the same controls found in conventional valves, but in a compact size with extremely high reliability and low leakage rates and often at a lower price.

Their product range include:

Standard Line and Direct Mounted Bodies

Sun offers more than three hundred standard bodies for line, direct, or gasket mounting. Standard bodies are available with single or multiple cavities. Porting options include:

  • NPTF

  • BSPP

  • SAE

  • ISO 6149

  • JIS B0202

All manifold options can be produced in aluminum for operating pressures to 210 bar or SG iron for operating pressures to 350 bar.

Sandwich and Sub-plate Bodies

Sun sandwich and sub-plate bodies are offered in an extensive range of functions in interface sizes from ISO 02 to ISO 08.

Offerings include many unique, innovative solutions to common circuit problems.

Useful ancillary products such as stainless steel stud rods, tap-in manifolds and cover plates are also available.

Multi-station bar manifolds with a main system relief cavity are offered in all interface size ranges

Motor Mount Bodies

Sun offers standard bodies that mount directly to many commercially available hydraulic motors.

Motor control functions include simple and cross-port relief, single and dual load control and single and dual flow control.

Valve Assemblies

Standard, pre-configured valve assemblies are offered to satisfy many common application requirements.

  • Hydrostatic Transmission Valves

  • Hot Oil Shuttle Valves for closed loop transmission circuits

  • Cushion Lock Valves for motion control circuits

  • Solenoid Vented Relief Valves

SCREW-IN CARTRIDGES

Sun's screw-in cartridges feature a unique two-piece floating style construction that allows the cartridge's internal working parts to float in relation to its fixed position in a cavity. The cartridge design requires mounting in a Sun cavity that incorporate four basic features:

A locating shoulder, threads, port areas, and a bottoming shoulder.

When screwed into a cavity, the cartridge sleeve has a clearance fit that is supported

axially by the locating shoulder and bottoming shoulder.

Because all working mechanisms are inside the cartridge, any assembly

stresses imposed when the cartridge is torqued into the cavity are not

transmitted to the cartridge's working components.

Consequently, there is no potential for the working mechanisms to bind

in operation. These design principles allow Sun cartridges to be

manufactured with extremely close clearances between fixed and

working parts. Internal working parts are made

of hardened steel to provide long life and

repeatable performance and external cartridge

parts are zinc plated to protect against corrosion.

Because of the extremely tight tolerances, Sun cartridges exhibit

very low hysteresis and leakage rates while offering extremely high

functional reliability.

Cartridges are available in five different frame sizes

with flow capacities up to 1600 l/min and pressure ratings to 350 bar (420 bar intermittent).

Custom Manifolds

With the introduction of full-flow direct acting solenoid cartridges, custom manifold circuits can be implemented using exclusively Sun cartridge valves.

All Sun solenoid cartridges fit into existing Sun cavities, so that independent manifold manufacturers can incorporate these valves using existing tools.

Sun, together with its distributors, can help design and manufacture custom manifold packages that precisely meet circuit and system requirements.
